CHARLESTON (JG-TC) -- A $5.5 million settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit in another county was approved as part of Charleston woman's estate case earlier this week.
The settlement was in behalf of the estate of April Strange, a Charleston woman who died during surgery at a Springfield hospital in 2013, according to a news release from the law firm that represented her family.
A National Safety Council study released last month indicates that seat belt use varies widely from state to state and the lack of drivers buckling up continues to be a leading cause of traffic accidents across America.
In 1999, an estimated 9,500 people died unnecessarily because they were not wearing seat belts.
DALLAS-- A recently filed lawsuit in Dallas County District Court blames negligence on behalf of the Boy Scouts of America for the death of a Fort Worth teen three months ago. Reid Comita,15, died from heat stroke while hiking at Buffalo Trail Scout Ranch in June.
