Capital Region Medical Center has been named in a wrongful death lawsuit filed in Cole County Circuit Court.

The family of Dorothy Otterman filed the suit, according to court records.

Otterman was taken to the hospital in October 2015 after falling at home. She was admitted for treatment of colitis and after approximately a week's stay was transferred to a nursing care facility and died the same day of the transfer.

When admitted to the hospital, Otterman was given fluids and medications intravenously, but later developed an allergic reaction to one or more of the medications leading to vomiting and pulling out her intravenous line.
